The Springs of Scottsdale

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting The Springs of Scottsdale and touring the community with Family Advisor Cristine Royer. As part of our new senior concierge initiative, which aims to provide our clients and followers with comprehensive resources about senior living communities, touring local communities and gathering information is a key focus. The Springs of Scottsdale is conveniently located near Old Town Scottsdale, HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, and Scottsdale Stadium.

The Springs of Scottsdale is one of four Stellar Living Communities in Arizona, offering 145 Independent Living and 56 Assisted Living One- and Two-Bedroom Apartments. Stellar Living Communities prioritizes its residents from the top down, with the company president dedicating five minutes each day to speak with the staff on a call designed to foster the best possible community environment for its residents. On a recent call, he asked the staff to respond to residents’ requests with, “It would be my pleasure,” rather than the more casual “Sure, no problem” that is so common today. This caught my attention because it was the second time I had heard this approach; the Executive Director at Sunrise Senior Living of Scottsdale also uses that phrase, which he adopted during his time at The Ritz Carlton. Cristine’s level of commitment and compassion for the community and its residents was evident throughout my visit, which likely contributes to The Springs of Scottsdale’s impressive 96% occupancy rate, with only three one-bedroom and three two-bedroom units currently available.

The Springs of Scottsdale is renowned for its restaurant, which is open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, serving chef-prepared meals made from scratch with fresh ingredients. To keep residents engaged, they award “Lucky Bucks” for participation in activities, which can then be used in a quarterly auction where residents bid on a wide variety of gift cards, gift baskets, and other fun items. The auction was held on the day of my visit, and judging by all the smiling faces, it’s clearly a favorite. The auction took place in a room on the 2nd floor, which also hosts daily happy hours, live music and dancing twice a week, and in September, it will be transformed into the cruise ship USS Springs, featuring themed parties for Jamaica on the 18th and Puerto Rico on the 20th. Other areas for resident engagement include a game room, library, puzzle table, putting green, and heated pool.

In addition to scheduled transportation seven days a week, The Springs of Scottsdale offers a variety of events throughout the day, typically beginning around 9:30 AM with exercise classes like Ball Pilates, Strength and Balance, Sit & Be Fit, and Chair Yoga. Fox Therapy is on-site and provides therapy exercise classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Other daily activities often include Bingo, Balloon Volleyball, Poker, and Brain Games. Evenings often conclude with Movie Night at 6:00 PM and a variety of games at 6:30 PM.

The community also offers “just-right” support with an emergency response system and 24-hour on-call personal care to ensure residents’ needs are met at any time. The Springs boasts a full-time concierge and hosts 40 to 50 on- and off-site activities each week, contributing to the vibrant community life.
